Smithville

If you're in the mood to camp, boat,
tube, swim, fish, picnic, lay on the beach, play golf,
hike, bike or grab a snack, Smithville Lake is the place
for you. A small "day use fee" is required for
entrance into the parks and beaches, and additional fees
are required for camping and boating. The lake covers
7,190 surface acres and ranks third in the state for shoreline miles.

Down Under Camp Resort

Located east of Turney, this campground has 3 fishing lakes, a swimming pool, shelter houses, playground,
recreation rooms, a general store, cafeteria, and miniature golf. RV and primitive
campsites are available. Weekend activities are planned from April through October.

Dedmen-Trice Memorial Woods and Nature Trail

This primitive hiking
trail on several acres, boasts one of the largest standing White Oak timbers remaining in
Missouri. Located approximately 5 miles east of Plattsburg on 116 Hwy.

Wallace State Park
|
|
This 501-acre wooded park allows
visitors to picnic, fish and swim, or hike along one of
the park's four scenic trails. Open and enclosed
shelters are available. Campground amenities include
modern restrooms, hot showers, a trailer dump station
and playground. |

Shatto Milk Company
|
|

Shatto Milk Company is the only local
family owned dairy farm that milks its own cows, bottles
that milk on the farm, and delivers the milk to select
stores in the Kansas City and St. Joseph areas. The
folks at Shatto Milk Company encourage everyone to come
and visit their local family dairy farm. When you do, be
prepared to stop by their Country Store & sample
some of their delicious products or schedule a guided
tour of their dairy and bottling facilities. Located in
Osborn, at 9406 N. Hwy 33. |
Lathrop Antique Show Grounds
Located south of Lathrop on 33 Hwy, the 40 acre show grounds boast of early century
buildings, including the Walnut Grove One Room School, a depot, a 1930's gas station, and
an operable steam powered sawmill. A church, log barn, and additional town buildings
are planned. Over 100 RV hook ups are available, and are used for a variety of
camping clubs, as well as two BlueGrass Festivals per year.

Van Buren-Spaeth Library/Museum
Capturing the history of what was once the
Mule Capital of the World, the museum houses hundreds of articles and
documents of this colorful town's past. Hours are Tuesday & Thursday
1:00 p.m.
through 5:00 p.m., and Saturday, 9:00 a.m. through 1:00 p.m. The museum
is located on North Pine Street in Lathrop.

Turney Depot
Restored as
it was before the railroad ceased operation in mid-60's, this depot is the result of many
hours of work by volunteers who treasure the role the railroad played in Clinton County's
prosperous days. Turney is located 5 miles north of Lathrop on A Hwy.
